Artist Statement

As a child I was a lover of nature and fantasy and that never changed.

The characters I draw can spring from a song, a book, a dream, a person I see on the street, or simply a blank piece of paper. Some ideas are a response to some situation going on in my life or some experience that I've had and the characters come out on that. I try not to plan out a drawing because I find that the surprises are some of the great things about the work.

Usually an explanation of a drawing isn't necessary. People have an emotional response to a piece of art for individual reasons. Part of the joy of creating art is that it can have meaning for another person. That exchange of energy between the artist and the observer can create communication and connections between us all.
